Good morning Craig's List Vigilantes! If you flag this you simply prove my point, and I'll repost it again anyhow!… I have a question: WHAT IS IT WITH YOU PEOPLE? Are your own lives so sad, so boring, so devoid of any detail that you feel some seminal need to tear others apart on a free classified ad service? Who are you to sit in judgment upon another, especially when you are so lacking in any factual information on which to base that judgment? In short: Who died and left you Pope?


Just because you don’t like the pitbull breed does not give you the right to delete peoples’ ads. I know a lot of labs and chows and cocker spaniels that are more aggressive than any pitbull I’ve ever met. Quit being stupid and read up and learn about this breed. They are only as mean as the owners who teach them to be that way. My pit is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. She sleeps in the house, half of the time right next to my 2 year old. I would appreciate it if you would leave people to their business and quit flagging all of our ads. We are just trying to find these great dogs nice loving homes. Get a life!! You are really annoying!

I have a three year old Chihuahua named Tinkerbell who needs a new home where she will be the center of your world. We kept getting flagged within minutes of posting and I don't know why… If you are going to flag this, at least let us know why! We are desparate to find Tinkerbell a little peace in a good home.

Despite the best efforts of the mysterious CL flaggers (both posts for this little guy were flagged), Oliver (the min. schnauzer/rustle mix) has found his new forever home. Many thanks to the Peterson family. This sweet little dog has moved around quite a bit in the last 3 months (including being tossed out of a car window) and despite all odds against him, he is now the center of attention and has a family to love & a big yard to call his own. I am a long time CL user and strongly encourage the "flaggers" to consider carefully before clicking your mouse button. Oliver had a buddy in one of his former homes (also listed on CL) who was NOT so lucky and was taken to the pound largely due to over-enthusiastic flaggers. Sadly, I think Oliver will be the last dog I foster as it is just too difficult to find homes with so many small-minded negative flaggers. CL is a huge resource for pet adoption. Or WAS.

Why anyone should object to this is beyond me, but my most recent posting was flagged, most likely by people trying to sell their own pets. Here goes: There are many rescues and shelters located in the greater Seattle area with wonderful pets available for adoption. Please be part of the solution to the animal over-population problem and check www.petfinder.org for a list of animals available in your area.


I lurk all over the CL and have seen some pretty bad things like an ad in Portland yesterday by someone who boasted about flagging any ad over $50 and calling or emailing ads without a stated fee and then flagging them if it was too high.

I guess I just don't understand why posts are flagged for "who will be at Petsmart today" and the extreme crabbines of some people responding to requests for fostering this animal or that. Yes LCAS has a website, with pictures even. Yep, way too many pits - which, by the way isn't THEIR fault. However, isn't this what CL Pets is for? Posting notices to find homes or situations for animals in need? For cripes sake, lighten up and become part of the solution, NOT the problem - what possible harm is there in allowing these notices to stay posted? Do we have a bunch of list/rules Nazis? I hope when you meet your maker, whomever that might be to you, you have an explanation why you interfered with those willing to assist those less fortunate, (be they 2 or 4 legged).

To all the flaggers: what a sad life you have. You know you are petty when you start challenging peoples spelling. I do have a suggestion step away from the computer walk out your trailer door and get some fresh air. For those that flagged the postings for shelter animals at a kill shelter with limited amount of time... how sad it is that by flagging you LITERALLY changed the fate of a shelter animal. one who might have been saved, will now be euthanized.

I have never seen so many mean people trying to destroy such a good thing. CL is a great way for people to try and find new loving homes for their pets. In a perfect world, pets would always be able to stay with their original families. This is not a perfect world. So to those of you that flag, take a look in the mirror. Are you trying to shut out what you see as competition or are you just that miserable in your own life that you need to try and make everyone else as miserable as you?

Sure there are going to be some people (breeders?) trying to "sell" their animal via an adoption fee. Some ads with fees are by legitimate rescue groups hoping to recoup vet fees. And some ads may be from some person you might feel based upon their ad as an irresponsible pet owner dumping their "beloved" pet and hoping to get some cash out of it. All of these scenarios are likely on Craigslist. But it's not your place to screen them for us. Let us see who's who if you don't mind. Besides, are you personally taking the time to contact all those posting parties you think are inappropriate and doing any investigation? I doubt it. You're guessing you are right. What about the times when you are wrong? Quit guessing with the life of an animal. Trust that more, way more of us, can help more animals in our way than you are helping in your way by your over-zealous flagging.

I tried to post ads on CL, but my many attempts are not even showing up. I've tried publishing with my account and with other email accounts. I receive a post number and can view the ad, but only via the email link or from my account page, but it just will not post on the board. Is this some sort of new technique those f'n flaggers are using now?

Could someone please explain to me why someone's ad is flagged for removal? I think maybe I might be missing something. I found an ad yesterday that I was going to respond to for a puppy that was almost 1 year old. It was not a purebred and as for as I know, he was the only one available. Today, the ad was flagged and removed. I am new to Craig's List when it comes to looking for a dog, could someone please educate me?


What's the harm of learning about puppy mills? So there was an extraordinary post on Puppy mills and backyard breeders and somebody flagged it. What's the harm on educating people about the damage it causes to animals? The only ones who would take offense would be those posting puppy mill dogs on this site in the guise of "rehoming" the animal. Education is a good thing and that post was flagged by the roaches who fill their the pockets with your money at the expense of these innocent animals. To the OP, please keep posting that. It was very important for anyone searching for a pet to know.

Re: confused / clarification - Well to make a long story short. If you see an ad you even think you want to check into you probably better do it ASAP. Because..... Anyone who does not like something in the ad can flag it. Off color language, spelling errors. The rehoming fee too high (which is a matter of opinion) Just the word rehoming fee could cause a ad to be flagged. Too many words that are typed ALL IN CAPITALS could also cause an ad to be flagged. Discussions like your post and this one. So do not be offended if they flag you. Hope this helps a little.

Why do people flag posts when you are just trying to help people or animals out on this board? This woman posted about getting bunnies for Easter and I made a post about it and then I show up today and find out my post was flagged just as I am sure this one will be too. Wow, I can't believe a RESCUE ORGANIZATION (one with the special 501c3 designation especially) is getting flagged here -- especially since it's the exact same ad I've been placing every few months for almost a year. Dear Flagger, I respectfully ask you to stop flagging legal posts. I do have some theories about you:
1. You are mentally ill and I kindly encourage you to seek the help of a therapist/ a clinical psychologist. We are capable of deciding what to read or not read, contact or not contact, and pay or not pay whatever the re-homing fee may be. You seem to be compulsive and obsessed and it seems you need help.
2. You are a breeder who is trying to get rid of the competition. Plenty of people will buy from breeders, so have a heart and let these pets find a new and loving home. The people who will not buy from a breeder will go directly to a shelter or other site; so flagging is not going to change their minds about buying from a breeder.
3. You don't like animals, if this is the case again I recommend you seek the help of a therapist because this is obviously an obsession, and the pet area of CL is no place for someone who is not a genuine animal lover! Whatever the reason for your constant flagging, it is obvious your flagging is not appreciated, so please, please stop flagging.

Mom is Akita mix Father is German Shepard. Unexplainably this ad keeps getting flagged within minutes of insertion ???? I've tried everything conceivable, for two weeks, to make changes to this simple little ad including saying $10 re-homing fee, no re-homing fee, Free, or nothing at all. Nice little Pup who has been keep indoors needs a new home and a preferably a fenced in back yard. Healthy and been around other animals and children.

The staff at XXX Animal Hospital has RESCUED 4 dogs (I took the time to post them all on here and for some reason it was flagged for removal????) These dogs were taken from a back yard breeder who never gave them medical care, barely fed them and never even cared enough to name them. WE HAVE updated their shots and spayed/neutered each one and gave them heartworm testing and treating as needed. I could not imagine any reason that anyone would want to delete this post. These poor dogs have never known what love a human can offer and deserve to find great loving forever homes. Thank you.

Why is this place so ugly? I just watched a bunch of rescue dogs get flagged off in less than 10 minutes. What is wrong with you people? You are not helping animals. WHY did you flag person helping homeless lady and pet? HOW could ANYONE delete a post like that?? WHAT could be gained? Had to be someone callous and inconsiderate to name a few of their qualities. I, for one, am glad there was a good outcome to this sad situation.


I want to thank all of you who responded so quickly to help!! Mom and all ten babies were removed from the back of the truck and are now in a nice, warm bed and settled in with me. To the person who flagged my posting, How could you? This lady is jobless, homeless and needed help with her dog. She would not go to a shelter herself, because she would not abandon mom and pups at a shelter. Everyone knows what happens to large mixed breeds at the shelter. I have no idea how some of you people live with yourselves!


I don’t know why I keep getting flagged. I am doing nothing wrong but trying to find my cat a new home. He hates being inside and I live in an apartment. He needs to be somewhere where he can roam free and not get hit by cars or get hurt. I live in the city and think he’d thrive on a farm.

Why flag posts for adoption events? - Each week I post the times & places where our adoption agency is taking cats & dogs available for adoption. These posts seem to be repeatedly flagged for removal. The purpose of the posts is to give more people a chance to give our animals for adoption a chance for a home. What's the point of flagging that? Could someone please reply with a logical response?


I am trying to re-home a beautiful purebred Husky that was abandoned at my house. I am local and followed all of the Craigslist rules, but my ad was still flagged. Maybe somebody could e-mail me and let me know why it was flagged so that I could re-post it properly?

I am wondering where the best places to go out tonight are... My last post got flagged down. It astonishes me how much smut is on this site, and my post is flagged.... So, if you have any recommendations, seriously hit me up because I don't know my way around the Philly scene.

I have personally spoken with two different craigslist posters that have both had the same scenario happen to them. One of them had it happen twice. They post ads, asking for re-homing fees or vet reimbursement, they get a call from a cell phone number, are asked the fee, and are basically hung up on. Within five minutes, their ad is flagged.


Why was my post flagged for wanting to adopt a puppy? I was not breaking any rules. I know there are lots of animals out there that need good homes so why flag those who want to provide one? I am still interested in any of the puppy ads I saw but were already flagged.


I was trying to re-home some pups that I saved and my post has been flagged 7 times. I have read the rules and I am doing nothing wrong. Yes, I’m sure I could go to some other site and sell them for bundles of money but that is not what I am interested in. I was only trying to find wonderful homes for my rescued pups but now I will have to try to find another site where no one is flag happy.


I do not understand why my post keeps getting flagged. I rescued weenie pups from a horrible home and I paid $150 a piece for them. I was trying to re-home them for $100.00. I have helped these little guys become healthy and happy and now I am ready to let them go to new homes. I would like to know what I am doing wrong. Is a $100 re-homing fee to much? I see all kinds of puppies going for that and they are people who bred their dog, not people who rescued them. Or does the flagger just not want these puppies to find forever homes? PLEASE help me understand.


Those of you who flagged this before should hang your heads in shame. You are really unbelievable. I AM NOT selling this cat so what is your problem? I will be asking a small re-homing fee to be sure she doesn't end up with a "buncher" or sold to a laboratory, but that is not selling in case you don't understand the English Language. This cat is running out of time and you are on a power trip--shame on you.


After many months, I’ve finally found the bird of my dreams! He is some kind of whiteface mutation?? I have no idea and I’d like opinions on what he is. All the websites don’t show a color mutation like him, so here is a few pictures of Teekee. There is cinnamon under his wings, gray on his wings and silver under his eyes. This has been flagged several times. I don’t understand why! I’m not selling or breeding, all I want to find out is my bird’s color mutation.


I don't understand what is so wrong about asking a question. I was flagged for asking how to get my birds to stop breeding. When I got them I was told they were both males. That's all I want to know I don't feel that I have done anything wrong. I figured someone would help because there are so many unwanted pets the way it is.


Hi guys, I posted this earlier, but *surprisingly* it was flagged. There is a great overpopulation of animals at the shelter right now and currently, there is no space for cats. Please help save these animals lives before they have to be put down to make space.

Does anyone know if they have the Blessing of the Animals here in the RI area? Most Catholic churches have it every year. I saw that beautiful St Francis The Patron Saint of Animals prayer on here that reminded me this, but I guess it obviously deserved to be flagged for some reason. So very sad. Why? Anyone know why I am not allowed to try and find this dog a home? I would like to give him a chance. I was told I needed an adoption fee because people might hurt him so I put that in, but now I'm flagged. I don't understand, maybe I won't be able to find him a home because he is older but why can't I at least try? My husband wants to take him to the pound, I really wanted to give him a chance but this is frustrating.


I didn't see your ad or have any idea why it was flagged, but you might want to address your anger issues before you bring a dog into your home. As far as I can tell ads are flagged for several different reasons and by different groups. A lot of ads are flagged by breeders who do not want the competition of any dogs similar to theirs. Activists tend to flag backyard breeders because sales are not allowed (and over breeding leads to overpopulated shelters). Breeders flag shelter pets to get back at the activists. It's an ugly cycle. I do not know why anyone would flag a person looking to adopt an unwanted dog?? craigslist is funny like that. You might try petfinder.com There are lots of homeless dogs there and no craigslist drama.

It's really frustrating when people flag you for no reason, I get that. But I can’t stand the people who are threatening to abandon their dog in the street or leave them at the pound because someone has flagged them a few times. There is no reason to punish an animal because of a frustrating time on craigslist. Go take some happy pills and regain your composure. Grow up and get over it and quit crying.


There are lots of people here trying to do the right thing. They are trying to keep their pets out of the situation that yours have found themselves in, or they could be dumping them in the desert. That is not what is going on here! This is a community forum, where people can help one another. If that's not your kind of place then feel free to go as you came. If you do really care about the well being of all animals, then why flag and disrupt people trying to do right? This site provides another good avenue for people to do right by their pets that they cannot care for. Pets cannot be sold here, and most ask for an adoption fee, to assure the animal is going to a home where it has some value.


Myself and others have recently posted pictures of the strays and adoptable animals at the pound. Amazingly, these posts were flagged off. Rather than attack you for doing this, you should be educated. These dogs are NOT competition for the breeders. They are facing imminent death. Most dogs there are strays/lost dogs. They are held for only 72 hours. At that point, many (even most) are euthanized. A lucky few are rescued or placed on the adoption line. Even those up for adoption will often be euthanized within a week b/c they get kennel cough. Our county kills 900 cats and dogs each and every week. PLEASE understand that when you flag a shelter dog's post, you are personally making him/her more likely to die. The ads are posted so that owners can see if their pet is there and go claim them. Maybe their dog has made it to the adoption line, they can still go get him out. Please really think about what you are doing. These dogs are not your competition. They are just trying to stay alive. If their family is out there, please give them a chance to be found. All of these animals deserve a chance.

I'm selling my kids 50cc 4 Stroke. They want a quad now instead. Bike starts on 1st kick. Mint condition... Why would a listing for a kid’s dirt bike get flagged? Are people that pathetic?



 

I have been looking for a puppy for sometime now, and cannot find one due to all of the flagging. Even if I can find a puppy in need of a home no information is given because everyone gets flagged for any details that they give. Please let people make their own choices as to what is a fair fee.


I am looking for a dog but every time I click on a post its been flagged. This is getting ridiculous. If its because people are asking to much well that's their purgative and if they are giving it away for free that's fine too but everyone is getting flagged except the ones that really should be. I am getting very frustrated that these so called " flaggers" are just doing it just to do it.


The flagging thing is no doubt getting out of hand, as is the editorializing. First, let's be adults, okay? And let's put the interests of the animals first. For instance-- CL does not state that purebreds cannot be re-homed. It does state that there should be no "sales" of animals -- only re-homing. To a reasonable person, I believe that excludes breeders-- people who are reproducing animals for a living. They can go to many other websites or advertise in the paper. But if you are an individual re-homing a purebred animal, you are a rehomer. You should not be flagged. I know it's hard to differentiate sometimes-- we don't always know the person or the circumstances on each ad. So, unless you are SURE that you are doing the right thing, why don't you refrain from flagging? You may prevent a nice pet from going to a good home. I think flagging has become a HOBBY for some people. Please, let's lighten up and give a few people the benefit of the doubt. There will always be some people breaking the rules, but you need to get over it and not make it a personal crusade.


I'm sure there are a lot of spoiled, mean, bored, too lazy to get a job, snotty-nosed brats that feel it is fun to flag people for no reason. Just re-post. Then some are flagged for legitimate reasons, mainly for refusing to adhere to rules and regulations set forth by Craigs List. 


Is someone flag happy??? What is the deal with posting a simple puppy needs home, no price posted just stating small re-homing fee, a phone number and a photo. I look through all these ads for people trying to find good homes for these wonderful pets. Next day all the dog ads are flagged and taken down, yet I see the little kitties, birds and lizards ads are untouched…Puppies need love too, let them find a home and stop taking the ads down without a solid reason why. So far the ads I have seen all were within guidelines of the rules.


I do not know why I keep getting flagged. Would you rather I take them to the pound? I am not asking to sell my puppies. I am asking for a $70 re-homing fee. This is my dog’s first and last set of puppies since she will be fixed.


This was flagged. There is nothing here that warrants flagging. I guess the nasties on here just don't like hearing the truth.... I wish you some growth as human beings. To the posters who are bashing Shilo's owner--you don't have any idea about the circumstances that force the decision to let go of a dog. There are too many people on here who are too judgmental without a clue what the person they are putting down might be going through. At least they are posting to try to find the dog a home…Your nasty posts don't help anyone, especially Shilo, and they discourage others from posting to re-home their pets. When you do that you may actually be dooming other dogs yourself because of your hateful posts.


Don't feel bad I keep getting flagged for trying to find a home for my dog and trying to do it for free then trying to do the stupid re-homing fee and putting on there that any money I get will go to the wrinkle rescue and it keeps getting taken off so I understand what your going through and it's about to drive me nuts. The rescues and shelters are so bogged down with animals they can't take anymore and they have to start killing.

Last night, I finally re-homed my baby. I have no idea why some people made this difficult for me. I could not keep my posting up for one second without it being flagged down…There was NO re-homing fee, my dog was in great health and I had a legitimate reason for re-homing him. Now that there's no way anybody can trace him or me, I can say that I re-homed him because I have cancer. I didn't want to say that in case anybody recognized him. Well to all of you who flag aimlessly, I hope you realize that what you are doing is completely wrong and you're hurting others and wasting their time. It especially hurts when you have limited time! 


How is anyone that has the intention of rescuing an animal/companion that would otherwise be sent to the humane society or discarded, supposed to communicate with the people who need to find homes for their pets? Especially if any jackass is allowed to just flag your post and it is removed without so much as an investigation or warning to the poster of their infringing upon the guidelines set forth by CL? We were under the impression that this forum was intended to help the pets and pet owners that found themselves in a situation that was not ideal for them. They want to connect with people like us who are in a position to actually help. Why would anyone want to get in the way and if they did how/why would they be allowed any sort of admin right on this forum?


CL should really clarify what constitutes a re-homing fee and when a re-homing fee becomes a sale. Having observed the debate for awhile it seems clear that there is a wide range of opinions. One extreme says that any fee is too much. Clearly, most would agree that no dog is worthless. Yet there is a vocal minority who are really offended by any re-homing fee. Yet another extreme claims that the re-homing fee should be whatever the person asks for and can get (free market). These people are constantly being flagged for re-homing fees that others believe are way too high. Most reasonable people are in the middle. They want a decent, loving home for their animal. They realize a modest re-homing fee serves as a screening device to weed out the weirdos, collectors, and the financially unfit. They also realize that the ability to pay a re-homing fee is just one tool in the screening process - home visits and references are also good ideas, as well as some sort of contract preventing re-sale of the pet. The problem is with Craigslist….What is a modest re-homing fee? Some say $50 - $200. Others think that too high. Still others claim that $400 - $500 is not unreasonable given the breed, etc. As long as this problem goes unanswered there will continue to be controversy… Do the flaggers even bother to read what they're flagging or do they just look for key words and go for the kill?

Great Dane Female for adoption. Not sure why this was flagged but she needs a loving home.... and this post breaks no rules, so please be kind and help this animal find a home. I have a wonderful female harlequin Great Dane. She is great with kids and other dogs. Has been outside but would probably be easy to housetrain. She is 2 years young and is looking for a new home. I am asking a $50.00 re-homing fee. Experience with the breed is a plus, and you MUST be willing to have a home visit and have references. This was not a decision reached easily.

I have watched the same girl post over twenty times looking for a Chihuahua to adopt. She is not doing anything wrong… She is depressed because her beloved dog just died; can none of us relate to that??? Congratulations to all of you out there that have never lost anything that you care about. I hope that all of your lives stay so perfect. To those of you out there that have lost a pet, let’s try to help this girl out. She has been in compliance with the CL rules this entire time and is not doing anything wrong… Why is she being flagged?? It is not right to purposely attempt to cause harm to a person, especially when they are already down…To the people flagging this girl: does this make you feel superior? To have control of someone else's desires? Try therapy, get control of your own life, and then return to CL. Sorry, but this is a really messed-up situation.


Cowardly Craigslist staff faking out public?????  RE: Reposter: This one's for you and to the coward. I'm not involved in the spat between the people online here, but I do see a coward. The coward is the one who dislikes another person's opinion, and then flags it repeatedly, hoping to squash the person's right to publish a statement. Being a regular user of Craigslist, I've seen plenty of people complaining that their post wasn't offensive or in violation of terms, but it was flagged and removed. Furthermore, I've experienced myself what could be nothing more than Craigslist staff being involved, since they have the buttons to delete on a whim.


It’s too bad that cowards can interfere with the CL postings, but as CL doesn't want to improve their failed "flagging" system, and year after year they simply call it a "work in progress" to avoid having to actually do some work in their office, not much can be done. To the coward: you crybaby. Nobody cares about people like you. You're a nothing and that’s why you harass people from the shadows, because you know what you are. You lack the courage to do that in the open where you could be exposed for being some wimpy-type guy who shakes with fear when he's been seen. You're a loser, coward boy.

I have been watching everything on this site and I have to wonder. All of this bickering and drama: is it really doing anything to help our furry (and non-furry) friends by-and-large? Recently I heard a report that over 90% of all puppies sold in pet stores were products of true puppy mills - not your average back yard breeder that needs to rely on free postings in places like CL. I mean full-scale operations with a hundred abused, neglected and over-bred dogs. 90%. That number is staggering. Flagging or complaining about those who flag will not even begin to solve this problem. There are other animal atrocities happening every day. I propose a true call to action. Come on, Craigslist. I know there have to be lawyers and senators, veterinarians and concerned citizens reading all of this. If we all were to organize and devote 1/2 as much time to brainstorming solutions, animal abuse and neglect could be stamped out! Will you be a part of change? Email me or post in the pet section! Our very old dog recently died and we would like adopt another. We could afford fancy breeders but believe it makes more sense to find a dog that needs a new family. We were referred to CL by a friend and have been searching for the past couple of weeks. What I've found is a potentially useful source of sharing that has apparently been hijacked by mean-spirited individuals who really need to get a life. What a shame!


I am looking for a pet, not personal drama. Of course, ironically, now I am adding to the personal drama...I have been looking here the last few days for a dog. I can't believe the weird drama on this board. There is more back and forth banter than there are pets! I really don't get it. There's some lady that keeps posting about some Maltese and some guy saying he's the cl sheriff. I am just looking for a new pet… Don't cloud up a board full of animals looking for homes with your personal problems. If you need a hobby that bad, get a pet!!! Watching this room has sure been entertaining. I've been back and forth between deciding whether or not I should veer away from this section of Craigslist, as it is the only section that is so petty and juvenile. First of all, to all of you responding angrily to this "Sheriff", what are you accomplishing, really? Yes, this person is a miscreant who has no life outside of his/her computer and feels validation only by making judgments on another human being’s post. It's likely that this person has no interest in animals at all. Just having some sort of control over what others do gives a satisfaction he/she cannot find anywhere else, as pathetic as it is. The more you respond, the more satisfying it is. Trust me. Whether it's emails or posts, if you respond, you are adding to the problem.


Ok, wow! You have gone overboard! CL rules say a small re-homing fee. Who are you to determine what is a small amount? Some people don’t post a fee in fear they are going to get flagged. There is no statement on Craigslist policy that says you have to post the fee. There is no statement on Craigslist policy that says you cannot re-home or adopt for $200 or under. There is no statement on Craigslist policy that says you cannot be a breeder ... It says no breeding.... not, no breeders. If you were the actual police, you would know the policies!


Why do people feel the need to flag people who are trying to find an animal a new home? If you don’t like the ad, move on!!!! Looking for a free or low-cost puppy. My granddaughter has suffered a terrible loss with the death of my youngest daughter and we have been advised that a friend will help her a great deal. We can provide a pup with a great home. If anyone can help that would be great! Why do you flag this post and let others stay???????????? We are still searching for our fur baby. He is about 6 months old now and has been missing since 2/2 in the St. Cloud/Narcoossee area. He weighs about 4-5 lbs and his ears do not stand up. Flaggers have nothing to add to intelligent discourse. They have no facts to present for their side of an argument so they substitute an endless stream of profanity and sexual insults, while removing other people's thought provoking comments. I've never had any of my political comments flagged before but now within 2 hours they're gone. Craigslist needs to clean up the indiscriminate flagging and produce a set of guidelines for what can be flagged. Also, a good rule to initiate is that any single person can only flag twice in one night. Craigslist has the capabilities to know who's taking advantage of flagging and they need to block them. Read this quick because it's bound to get flagged.


Why did you all flag this? I’m trying to find good homes for my rabbits. I am not a breeder. They are my pets. “Show rabbits” does not mean breeder rabbits. “Show rabbits” means they are qualified to be in fun rabbit shows, like a dog show. So flag and delete all you want, but I will repost. I guess you would rather they be euthanized. You people don’t make sense. Craigslist is getting worse every day.


Flagging can only get worse. CL is doing a lot of the flagging themselves, although they won't admit it. I spent 30 minutes writing an article and it never made it to post. Never made it to my account list. Think about it. In the heading "law suit dismissed" in the CL home page, here is what is the last line of what Jim Buckmaster, CEO of CL, said about the case: "Putting aside the fact that craigslist legally can not be held liable in this suit, we feel very strongly that the craigslist community of users is on the very highest moral high ground with respect to fair housing, setting an example more worthy of emulation than litigation." If this guy actually thinks that EVERYONE on CL is "on the very highest moral high ground" about ANYTHING going on at this site, he must be of low character himself. He will not answer to those of us who bitch about flaggers. I have seen headings, and submitted some myself, that do not fall under the heading of "prohibited" items, that were flagged for removal. In my case, I wanted to trade a rifle. The rules clearly say that you "Can't Sell," so I get flagged. I had talked to a guy "Wanting" a pistol, again not selling, and he gets flagged. There was an English Bulldog whose owners had a $200 adoption fee. CLEARLY WITHIN THE RULES. It got flagged at least 3 times so far. I have PERSONALLY called for Jim Buckmaster to email me as to why moron flaggers, if it is not CL themselves, cannot be controlled. He has my email address on file. He won't. And why should he? HE doesn't have anything to lose. He must be a P.E.T.A. member (the reason why we can't sell animals) and an anti-gun activist (the reason we can't sell guns). BUT OBVIOUSLY enjoys the male and female prostitutes on his site, else why would he allow it? I suggest that EVERYONE who posts on this site, regardless of what category it is in, include the statement "ALL OR NOTHING!!! STOP THE FLAGGERS!!!" Maybe good ‘ol Jim will finally do something about it. VOTE THIS "BEST OF CL" and maybe he will get the idea!!!


I had to have my dog put down because my ads kept getting flagged. I was in a pinch to move because our house was foreclosed on and I could not afford to take out an ad in the paper. But for some reason my ad got flagged over and over and because my dog needed special care, I had to put him down. I simply ran out of time.

As for the flaggers, they are the most pathetic cowards. No doubt they are ruled by an impotent rage, unable to communicate, condemned to a mute silence. Their only recourse - to try and silence others. A sad and tragic existence, at once repugnant yet indicative of the deepest, most bitter melancholy.


I have been checking CL recently browsing through in an attempt to find a new addition to our family. What I don't understand is all you Flaggers out there. I just saw an ad for a weimer and two seconds later, it was flagged?! There was no extravagant "rehoming" fee...I am starting to think you people are flagging because you don't want anyone else calling on an animal you may be interested in. Please stop flagging this posting! They are rescued kittens found at a feeding site in a dangerous area of town. They deserve to be loved & live in a warm & safe home. When you flag these postings, you are endangering their lives. Would you rather they be left there to grow up feral & afraid of humans never knowing where their next meal is coming from along with shelter? You flaggers are out of control! So, I look on this forum. It's a community forum, right? People are allowed to express opinions? They get flagged. Less-conscious owners than I are often looking to rehome their dogs for a nominal fee, which is allowed in the craiglist contract. They are flagged.

Is it just me, or does Craigslist not say anything about banning pitbulls from the site? I was just wondering, because almost every pitbull ad is flagged, and most of the ones flagged seem to be pitbulls. I'm sorry if you don't like them, but they deserve loving homes too, just like any other animal.

A lot of people value the opinions that are given in this area, because it helps them to make informative decisions and learn from the mistakes of others; unfortunately, some people on here like flagging people because they don't want others to know what is going on, because 1. they are trying to make a profit off of their pets. 2. they don't like reading about the irresponsible owner and 3. it's a control issue on their part.

Giving bunnies away for free: unfortunately when asking for a fee the flaggers tend to knock you off the site so sometimes it's just easier to just give them away than mess with $10 and having to repost every 20 minutes.

Ok... so recently I posted a want ad for a Yorkie, only to find it had been flagged/deleted the next day. It got me wondering ... HOW???? WHY????? WHO?????? Simply put, there are people who spend almost their entire day removing these posts because they "feel" it encourages underhanded sales of animals.... again... NOT against the rules... There seems to be an ongoing feud between people posting ads and some people who feel the ad is undeserving, inappropriate or by someone who has ill intentions towards an animal. The "flagger" feels the need to take these ads out of circulation for the rest of us. That act is inappropriate. Let those of us who are looking for an animal make that decision. You may find out we are far better at that than you think. We should be allowed to THINK for ourselves- stop thinking you know better than everyone else or taking the choice out of my hands...

Oh I like this.....flaggers flaggin' the pets section. Flag anything and everything their twisted minds feel is "inappropriate".... when we complain, we're told to take it to Rants and Raves. Ok fine, no problem. But, guess what? I took my flagging gripe to Rants and Raves and got FLAGGED there! Can you believe it??? The forum designed JUST for ranting and I got flagged because I was speaking against flaggers. More proof that flaggers are CL employees and not just random idiots. Albeit, I'm sure that some of the nutbar flaggers are random idiots who are in serious need of medication. How can they not be?? No one normal has that kind of time. Perhaps they're evil trolls who WANT these poor pets to not find homes. That's the only thing that makes any sense. It's even possible that they're just your basic losers who get off on us hating them and therefore it just encourages them to try to be superior losers. Unfortunately, in the long run, it's the animals that pay the ultimate price for these people not having ANY sort of a life. I, personally, don't have a problem with people selling their pets as long as they're not breeders or asking totally ridiculous prices. Re-homing fees, after all, are just a fancy way of saying 'price'. If I pay the rehoming fee, I'm buying. Pure and simple. Once we all accept that, this section may be a little less hostile and the animals can find their happy places.

I look at craig'slist every day in hopes of finding the perfect animal for me, but you flagger's are flagging for no reason. It says at the top of the page that small adoption fees are okay per craig's list. Being that a pet store adoption fee is 600-1000 dollars a small fee on here can or would be around 100 dollars. What are you people doing? Do you think that the lives of these animals are worthless? What do you think happens to the people that are flagged? THEY TAKE THEM TO THE SHELTER WHERE THE FEE IS ALSO 100 DOLLARS or more if it is a puppy. Have a heart. Every animal on here deserves the right to find a home. It is up to the person whether they want to spend the money. I have flagged on occasion, but I rarely do and I don't ever flag someone that needs to re-home the animal. How long before they all give up and place their animals on death row? Give the animals a break and leave their owners alone.

Ignorance - I am so tired of people whining about modest re-homing fees. Some people are not happy unless the dog is free - which is ultimately really bad for the animal. If you are poor or cheap I am sorry. But if you cannot afford $100 - $300 rehoming fee you should not have a dog. The flaggers are the most pathetic, mean spirited people; they deserve our pity for their lives are filled with an overflowing bitterness. If you have a concern then take the time and send an email or compose a post. Flagging is just cowardly.


You have to put in your post 're-homing fee' or 'adoption fee' so your posting will not be flagged. It took me a couple of times also to figure it out.

Lab mix puppy needs a home - Whoever flagged me, get a life. A puppy was dumped on me, and my child is allergic to her. So sue me for thinking of my kid's health by trying to re-home the dog that's making him sick. She is 6 months old, fairly small, has all shots, likes other dogs, cats, and older kids; scared of smaller kids. She's housebroken too. If there is an issue with my ad, someone have the decency to give me a call and let me know what's going on before you "eliminate the competition," though I think it's pretty crappy that that's the way some of you see this.

Why in the world would anyone flag my request for someone to help me post pictures of dog's at the east valley shelter? To the person from the shelter who questioned why the ads were being flagged: There is a small minority of neurotic shut ins who have nothing better to do than flag any post they find offensive. These people are utter morons who object to any re-homing fee over $50 - $100. It is a huge problem here on CL. I am sorry that you are prevented from finding homes for your dogs by these misguided, deluded souls. (I believe many are elderly and simply don't understand the relative value of money - they no doubt think a cup of coffee should still be $.50; and there are no doubt plenty of mean spirited people who get off on their false self-righteousness). I am not sure what can be done about these cyber bullies. Nevertheless, keep up the good work. Some of us really appreciate everyone working for the benefit of the animals. As for the flaggers - please don't delude yourself, your actions are for the most part shameful and cowardly - something you only dare do anonymously. Shame, shame, shame on you - the only ones you hurt are the animals while you attempt to puff up your pathetic egos.

The pets section on CL is the only place where some folks seems to think it's their duty to scan, screen and flag at will. You're right, they should put all that effort into helping others (animal and human)instead of wasting their time and the time and effort of folks who came here to post ads for pets. I was flagged for some reason, not breaking any rules! But that’s what you get with craigslist I guess. People don’t have the guts to email you when they think they have the right to flag a post for no reason, but that’s probably why. Flaggers STOP FLAGGING rescue groups! You are only hurting the animals (everywhere ) I am appalled that someone is flagging rescue groups! I read the Craigslist rules, and rescuers are NOT breaking rules by charging adoption fees! This rule is meant to stop BACKYARD BREEDERS! NOT RESCUERS! Remember you are not the CL police and to flag someone simply because you disagree with a price is wrong. Your opinion of a re-homing fee is one thing and mine is another, as well as others hold their opinion; all equally of value. If CL wanted the fee to be $100 or less then that is what should be clearly stated in the rules. But what is stated is "small fee". Who are you to decide what a "small fee" is?


As for the shelters and rescues how in the world do you think they are going to have the ability to operate these facilities without charging a fee? It's not free to spay or neuter a pet, provide medical treatment, food, care etc. There are a lot of wonderful people out there that do donate their time but let's get realistic, everyone needs to survive and that means that it is common sense that there are costs involved in the operation of any service regardless of non-profit or not. The day that you start volunteering your time 24/7, without asking for anything in return, and YOU cover all the costs to do this; is the day you can complain that you want something for nothing.


What the &)&$#@! is wrong with you that you would flag and remove an ad LOOKING to save a dog and what the hell is wrong with CL that it would allow you to continue to do so.

So you're the loser who is sitting on the board and flagging people because they won't give you a free pet huh? You're so awesome. Can you even comprehend the fact that people are not only trying to recover some of their costs invested into the animal, but that, by charging a fee, they are ensuring the pet a better home? Do you even realize that? Can that even penetrate that foot-thick skull of yours? If someone pays for something they are more likely to treat it more as a treasure, versus something that they just picked up for free. If you get it for free it has NO value, and you will treat it as such. Not only that, but the adoption fee insures someone financially responsible will take the dog, and doesn't allow the dog to go to just anyone. So you hate rescues? No kill shelters too? They all charge fees, the rescues charge more than buying a puppy in MANY cases. I am an animal activist, but you're just a ridiculous radical. If you see someone on here charging and adoption fee of $300 for a PUPPY with "health papers," then flag that. Until then, keep your mouth shut and let these animals find GOOD HOMES.


We will no longer post our ad on CL. We are being flagged by the same person and or group that has run off Macaw rescue. I started this rescue to help out my 14-year-old daughter fulfill her dream. We have come away with more then just rescuing birds. We feel a close connection with all the wonderful people that have visited our place and have taken pictures. We have made many new friends, people who care and have a deep passion for birds. We have rescued well over 100 birds. We have rescued birds from all over the bay area. Sometimes driving 2 hours to rescue a parakeet. With sometimes 20 to 30 emails per day, feeding these little critters, building cages and aviaries, and all that driving, has become a lot of work, but it was worth it. We are taking a break and we will be back on another site next month...one that won't flag us. LOL!


2 male pups ready to go, I fostered them and they need to find there forever homes. Why am I getting flagged, I have done a good deed here by helping puppies when there mother was killed by a car. Now that they are healthy are ready to go to homes. WHY AM I BEING FLAGGED? I’M NOT BREAKING ANY RULES HERE. IT’S NOT AGAINST CRAIGSLIST TO POST PUPPIES OR ANIMALS IN THE ANIMAL SECTION. I’M NOT AFTER GETTING MONEY BACK OR MAKING ANY AT ALL, I CARE ABOUT THE ANIMALS AND HELPING THEM FIND A HOME NOW THAT THEY ARE READY. SO STOP FLAGGING ME FOR NO REASON. ANY QUESTIONS EMAIL ME.


My ad got flagged, not sure why. This is a real ad so stop flagging!! I rescued this boxer from a sure death. All that I am asking is a small fee to recover the vet costs that I have put into this dog. When I got her she was only 45 lbs very skinny and very afraid. She is now a very playful dog and full of energy. I already have a boxer that is why I do not want to keep her and she deserves to have a good family take care of her. A family that will enjoy her. She will make a great pet!! 


I understand your frustration. I have gotten posts flagged too, but I have never flagged one though. I am frequent "foster mom", per the little I know, it seems to me that the shelter people or foster "parents" normally have our hands full, with no extra time to spend in the computer flagging other people. It does not make sense, specially since the common goal is to promote animal rescue and protection. Please, think that if you join the "non-sense flaggers" lines, the only ones affected at the end are the animals that we all are trying to benefit.


Have you been flagged? Multiple times for no reason? Have you ever tried to pull up an ad to find that the information is now gone because it was flagged? The so called "Community" has taken over this site and citizens are unable to use it. None of these flagged ads have violated anything.... other than some idiot's crazy thinking. This is a free site and we should be able to use it without being hassled.

XXX Pet Rescue is a legitimate animal rescue. They do great work for animals in need. STOP flagging them so they can place their current adoptables and help save more dogs in need! Shame on you flaggers! You are only hurting the animals!!!!


My son is having surgery. I have to get rid of most of my stuff, car, ATV's, birds, horses and my fish… Do the flaggers even bother to read what they're flagging or do they just look for key words and go for the kill? It's pretty critical I get my stuff taken care of, considering I pay for about 1/3 of my son's surgery and it'll be around 20K and my animals really prefer to be fed.


You should NEVER put your phone number up on Craigslist. The flaggers who harass everyone trying to find homes for your pets, GOOGLE your information. They try to find out as much information on people as they can. They have made FALSE reports to Animal Control just because someone has a pet up for adoption. The best thing you can do is NEVER reply to an email unless the person wanting your pet gives YOU their number. I have proof of everything I said in this posting. Please be safe.

There are more level-headed people turning out in numbers today who are of the enlightened mindset that people should not automatically get flagged for trying to post an ad here… The point is that I'm trying to find a new pet and some people out there are flagging anyone they believe is trying to profit or is running a puppy mill. I think it is better to let those looking for pets connect with them than having unwanted pets become abandoned because their ad keeps getting flagged. I'm sure my thoughts here will be flagged, so feel free to quote and repost and add your own thoughts to "over-flagging."


It is ridiculous that you people, (whoever you are)have nothing better to do than prevent animals from finding new homes. It is not your place to judge anyone’s reason or motive…The point is not your thought on the issue… this animal needs a home. (And why do you incessantly flag the puppy ads?), PLEASE stop flagging and let them find it. I am truly tired of being in a "race" to view ads that I am interested in, before you can flag them. And I am unsure of why you care so much as to flag it down with in seconds of it being up… As far as I can figure you are either socially deprived and have nothing better to do than "police" websites, or you are teenagers getting your daily jollies at trying to upset as many people as you can without having to actually face them.

Yesterday I posted my dogs, just to share their photos, they are my BOYS. Well I was flagged. Is this happening to anyone else? Just curious. I am just shocked, what is the problem? What is wrong with people enjoying photos of other’s animals?


WHY on EARTH is this ad getting flagged? Jovi needs a new home, thanks to the landlords changing their minds about having dogs here. If you honestly want to flag this ad, go ahead, but just keep in mind, I will keep posting it ‘til Jovi finds a new home and if needed, I will go to Craig himself, which I have done before (works wonders, btw.)


Sometimes the flaggers get me when I share. I tried to post this last Friday and I was flagged just showing off my babies WHY did my posting of my pets get flagged? I was sharing like everyone else, I love my pets!


Yesterday I found an ad for a puppy. It was not a purebred and as for as I know, he was the only one available. Today, the ad was flagged and removed. I am new to Craig's List when it comes to looking for a dog, could someone please educate me? The response: If you see an ad you even think you want to check into, you probably better do it ASAP. Because..... Anyone can flag it. Off-color language, spelling errors, or the re-homing fee is too high (a matter of opinion.) Just the word re-homing fee could cause an ad to be flagged. Too many words that are typed ALL IN CAPITALS could also cause an ad to be flagged.


Seriously? Flagging information on puppy mills? So there was an extraordinary post on puppy mills and backyard breeders and somebody flagged it. What's the harm in educating people about the damage it causes to animals? The only ones who would take offense would be those posting puppy mill dogs on this site in the guise of "re-homing" the animal. Education is a good thing and that post was flagged by the roaches who fill their pockets with your money at the expense of these innocent animals. To the OP, please keep posting that. It was very important for anyone searching for a pet to know.

Where is the monetary amount listed please? I would like to re-home my AKC beagle, but not sure I want to after reading the ranting posts. Why would someone go on here just to flag ads? It doesn't make any sense to me. So I am not in violation of the craigslist cops, please tell me where to read the exact fee I am supposed to list.


I am interested in adopting a female Chihuahua in need of a good home...I posted earlier today and someone flagged me. Please don't do that, I am interested in adopting a dog that does not have a home...There is no reason to flag a post like that.

We are only trying to find great homes for kittens that have a very bleak outlook on life after the loss of their mother. God, you dumb flagging no-good kitten-haters, you kill me. Get a life. To whoever keeps flagging this post, you must be guilty of something if this offends you! This post does not in any way violate Craig's List rules. I suggest you read them! There are lots of people out there trying to re-home strays and lost pets. I'm referring to private citizens and not rescue groups. Please, if you find a stray or lost pet, do not automatically come to the conclusion the animal has been dumped or abused. Many pets can go missing for months at a time and travel very far away from their home. Post on Craig's list in the pet section and lost and found section. Post at www.petharbor.com. Post at www.petfinder.com. These are the most popular web sites to search for lost pets. Unfortunately, some may have been maliciously dumped by pet haters or may have accidentally jumped into transport vehicles. Please, before you just try to give the stray/lost animal away, contact your local shelter and file a found report. Most owners of lost pets check the shelters often in hopes of finding their animal. If you have the time, contact shelters within 50 miles of you. Take the time to check newspaper classifieds and lost pet web sites. Most newspapers will run found animals ads for free. Take the animal to a shelter or vet and have it scanned for a possible microchip. There very well could be someone out there looking for the lost pet in your possession!

Why do you keep flagging my ad? I am not a breeder/seller. I am just trying to place some puppies into a good home, so what is your problem? My re-homing fee is negotiable to good homes. Stop flagging about the junk yard dog! He is stout, dirty, smelly, missing fur, and surrounded by flies which have laid maggots in the cuts on his ears. He is far too ugly a guy to go to the pound or no-kill shelters. The lovely lady who raised him from a puppy died and left him with a jerk, so he ran away to the neighbors’ house. She feeds him but she is moving to England next month. P.J., the junk yard dog, is ugly as sin from years of neglect but sweet as pie is stuck for options. He is a real live honest to goodness junk yard dog who needs someone. Stop flagging him!

The flagger is at it again. The one who won’t tell people why they are flagging when the ad is in the correct category and we are just trying to find homes for pets who are in danger. Someone has something against small dogs, I guess. If you are interested, hurry and respond before they flag again!! When they flag me, I will repost again and again until I find him a safe place to live.


I would like to thank the overly-sensitive person who flagged my ad for a free dog. If you had read it carefully, you would have seen it was changed to a $200 donation to the Monticello Animal Shelter. This was done due to the high amount of call and emails I was getting to weed out the "bunchers". Were you one of those types? I just want to find a good home for my dog.

I'm trying to find the perfect pet for my family but it seems that every animal is being flagged. What is going on?


I keep getting flagged so it’s stopping the pup from finding the home he needs. If he’s not gone today, he will definitely be going to the pound tomorrow. I hate to do this but I have to. I paid $350 for this dog and I’m re-homing him for $50. Thanks, flaggers!!!!


I know you are doing what you love. There are creepy flaggers out there trying to get you down. Don't let them. Just keep posting. According to the rules on Craigslist, they are breaking the rules by their lies and harmful comments which do nothing but show how insecure they are. It is such a beautiful day and these losers have nothing else to do but put negativity out there.


I have posted in the wanted section and been flagged there too. I am looking for a Pomeranian for my wife. We have looked in shelters also and are on waiting lists. There was a posting yesterday but it was deleted. If you know of someone looking for a home for their beloved pet please email me. I am hoping to find a family member and also to save an animal from being taken to the pound. We are a loving home that just wants to open our doors. Why people choose to flag ads that are not breaking any rules is beyond me.


Why has someone designated themselves as the flagging police? People wanting to find a good home for their pet or wanting a pet, or who want to sell pet-related items are naturally going to go to this site. If the flagger doesn't like what he/she is reading then, have the courtesy to email that person and let them know what you think they are doing wrong. Don't just flag them. Sometimes the perfect match is out there and they can't connect because you don't even give them a chance. I've been trying to avoid putting a posting up like this but it's gotten to a ridiculous level.

In my honest search for another companion for my dog I came here to CL. I have looked for months, I have waded through the Friday sharing (very cute), the Flaggytown Sheriff postings, and the various other arguments that go on in this section of CL. Needless to say that tomorrow I will be going out to buy a rather expensive "designer dog" AKA a mutt from some so-called "backyard breeder." All because every post on here gets flagged for ridiculous reasons and its become very inconvenient to check back every 5 minutes. I suppose this is my way of sticking it to the rude people who flag because they think someone is a breeder or they are asking too much. Way to go, exactly what you didn't want to happen, is going to happen now. Thank you. It really saddens me that I wasn't able to find the right doggy companion due to excessive flagging. Regardless of how much a dog is or where it comes from, it still needs a home. I want the flaggers to know that their ploy has backfired, and I had to go sift through the classified ads of the newspaper to find an animal that wouldn't be flagged in 5 seconds. It was a last resort, but I feel that people are tired of trying to post their animals on here only to have them flagged within minutes, therefore the amount of available dogs on CL is becoming fewer and fewer. On a more positive note, the dog I am getting is super cute and will be very well loved. I wish the best of luck to the rest of the people out there trying to find homes for their animals. Fight the good fight against those who flag.

CL says a small adoption fee is OK. What is a small adoption fee? Clearly there are people who think anything over $200 is no longer a small fee. But it really is relative. For some people $500 is small. For some $5000 is small. I wonder then, why is CL being held hostage by a small group of nut jobs? It really is kind of crazy. And who are these angry, bitter people, lurking in the shadows doing all the flagging? Misguided do-gooders or malicious devils? No doubt a little of both. They hide behind some notion of helping animals when all they are doing is preventing animals from finding homes: Hurting what they supposedly love. I am not sure who is worse, the person re-homing their animal for seemingly frivolous reasons, or the self righteous flagger sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. Either way, it is the animal that suffers. And it is sad.

For those of you who flag posts on here, you need to get a life, and find something better to do with your time other then sitting in front of a computer all day long reading posts that don't pertain to you! I have been checking Cl recently browsing through in an attempt to find a new addition to our family. What I don't understand is all you Flaggers out there. I just saw an ad for a weimer and two seconds later, it was flagged?! There was no extravagant "re homing" fee...I am starting to think you people are flagging because you don't want anyone else calling on an animal you may be interested in. Really...do any of you have a life? As long as an ad is not offensive, live and let live! I suggest getting a job and getting a life!


The CLPD is responsible for the death of countless animals. Their organized flagging campaigns all too often result in a death sentence. These cowardly monsters must be stopped - they are killing animals. Resist the flaggers - monsters who would rather see a dog die than be adopted for a fee they think is too high. How dare them!
